The Augustinian Family publishes synodal materials to prepare for Pope Leo XIV’s visit
We welcome the first Pope who is a son of Saint Augustine. Download the Augustinian Family’s ten synodal materials to live Leo XIV’s visit as a family and as a community.

The Augustinian Family in Spain today released a set of eight documents to prepare for the visit of Pope Leo XIV to Spain, from June 6 to 12, 2026. They can be viewed and downloaded free of charge on this website.
It is the first time in sixteen centuries that a son of Saint Augustine has occupied the Chair of Peter. And the Augustinian Family in Spain wants this to be felt: in the classroom, on the sofa at home, in the church pew, in the community chapter. That is why the nine branches of the Spanish Augustinian Federation (FAE) have worked together for months to produce, synodally, a shared path of preparation.
The result is ten free PDFs, each designed for a specific audience, but all united by the same source and the same horizon: let us walk together to meet the Successor of Peter.
«One soul and one heart turned towards God».
Saint Augustine · Rule I, 2
A truly synodal work
Over the past months, teams made up of Augustinians, Augustinian Recollects, Augustinian Missionary Sisters, Augustinian Recollect Missionary Sisters and Augustinian Sisters of Amparo have worked together, joined by the Augustinian nuns, the Augustinian Recollect nuns, the Comendadoras de Santiago and the Assumptionists. The different Orders and Congregations have worked side by side so that no area of the Augustinian family is left out. It has been, in the strictest sense, a synodal process: walking together.
Each document is aimed at a different audience, by age, vocation or state of life, with its own language and method. But they all share the same internal structure: starting point, the Word, an Augustinian perspective, an activity, and a closing prayer. The intention is clear: that the same breath, in Augustine’s key, may blow through schools, fraternities, parishes and convents.
Three Augustinian keys for looking at the Pope who is coming
The whole path is built around three words that speak at once to the spirituality of Saint Augustine and to the pontificate of Leo XIV:
- Restless heart. «You have made us for yourself, O Lord, and our heart is restless until it rests in you» (Confessions I, 1, 1). The starting point is to recognize within ourselves the thirst that only God can quench.
- Interiority. «Do not go outside, return into yourself: truth dwells in the inner self» (De vera religione 39, 72). Preparing for the visit is not just about logistics: it is about preparing the heart.
- Communion. «One soul and one heart turned towards God» (Rule I, 2). Welcoming the Pope as a visible sign of the unity of the Church.
Ten documents, one source
The set opens with a General guide (the framework document the FAE recommends reading first) and then unfolds into specific proposals:
- General guide to the materials. It presents the path, the three Augustinian keys and the essentials for getting to know Pope Leo XIV.
- Pre-school and primary (printable and interactive versions). Songs, colouring sheets and activities for the youngest.
- Children aged 8 to 11. Catechesis worksheets, classroom activities and short prayers.
- Teenagers (12–15). Meetings, challenges and keys for approaching Leo XIV in their own language.
- Young people (16–30). Lectio divina, group meetings and a personal spiritual path.
- Parents and families. A guide to prayer at home for the days before and the week of the visit.
- Adult groups. Formation paths for lay fraternities, parish groups and Monica mothers’ groups.
- Religious communities. Proposals for retreats, community lectio and review of life for convents and apostolic communities.
- Liturgical intercessions. For Holy Mass and the Liturgy of the Hours during the week of June 6 to 12.
All the resources are gathered in one place: agustinosconelpapa.com/en/resources.
How to use them in three steps
- Start with the General guide. It is the framework document: it explains the meaning of the path and how the other materials fit together.
- Spread them over at least three meetings before the visit. The proposals are flexible suggestions; each community will adapt them to its own situation.
- Live the week of June 6 to 12 with a special daily prayer, using the liturgical intercessions included in the last document.
«We are the Pope’s family»
Robert Francis Prevost (Leo XIV) entered the Order of Saint Augustine in 1977, was Prior General of the Augustinians for twelve years and a missionary in Peru for more than two decades before his election as Successor of Peter on May 8, 2025. His episcopal motto, In Illo uno unum («in the One (Christ), one»), is taken from Saint Augustine.
«For us, welcoming him is a family matter», the FAE explains. «He is our brother in charism, in habit and in the Rule. That is why, this time, we are the Pope’s family».
Where can you download the materials?
All the resources are freely available, at no cost, at agustinosconelpapa.com/en/resources.
They may be quoted and reproduced with acknowledgement of the source. The FAE invites schools, parishes, fraternities and communities to make them their own and share them on their own channels.
