More than 6,000 people will take part in the events organized during the Holy Father’s apostolic visit from June 6 to 12, 2026

The countdown to Pope Leo XIV’s apostolic visit to Spain has begun. The Holy See has made official the programme of the journey the Holy Father will make from June 6 to 12, 2026, which will take him to Madrid, Barcelona, Montserrat, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

It will be a visit marked by prayer, meeting young people, closeness to the peripheries, dialogue with the world of culture and attention to social and migration realities. But it will also be an especially meaningful visit for the whole Augustinian family, which will take part, united, in the events planned for those days.

More than 6,000 people (children and young people, religious men and women, families, teachers and members of parishes and apostolates linked to the charism of Saint Augustine) will take part in the various events organized by the Augustinian orders and congregations present in Spain.

Taking part together will be the Order of Saint Augustine, the Augustinian Recollects, the Assumptionists, the Augustinian nuns, the Augustinian Recollect nuns, the Comendadoras de Santiago, the Augustinian Missionary Sisters, the Augustinian Recollect Missionary Sisters and the Augustinian Sisters of Amparo.

Pastoral materials to prepare for the visit

For this historic event, the Spanish Augustinian Federation (FAE) has also published a series of pastoral and liturgical materials to help schools, parishes, fraternities and religious communities prepare spiritually for the Holy Father’s visit.

The resources are available free of charge at agustinosconelpapa.com and include eight documents for different audiences: children, teenagers, young people, families, adult groups, lay fraternities, religious communities and liturgical celebrations.

The materials were prepared jointly and synodally by the different branches of the Augustinian family and are built around three keys inspired by the spirituality of Saint Augustine and the pontificate of Leo XIV: “Restless heart”, “Interiority” and “Communion”.

«For the first time in sixteen centuries, a son of Saint Augustine occupies the Chair of Peter. For us, welcoming him is a family matter», the FAE explains.
