Augustinian nuns make decade rosaries for Pope Leo XIV’s visit
In the prayerful silence of the Monastery of La Conversión, the Augustinian nuns wanted to accompany the Pope’s journey spiritually by making a thousand handmade decade rosaries, a simple yet profound expression of their vocation which, from contemplation, also feels called to evangelization. They made them together as a community, and the nuns are moved to think that the thousands of pilgrims attending the Pope’s events will be able to pray the Rosary with one of these decade rosaries in their hands. Behind each one there is prayer, self-giving and the desire to accompany a whole generation of young people spiritually.

Decade rosaries are handy mini rosaries, made of ten beads and a cross with the Augustinian heart, whose main purpose is to promote and make easier the praying of the Rosary among the many thousands of faithful who will attend the events in the programme.
From the perspective of Augustinian spirituality, this gesture expresses the desire to walk in communion with the universal Church, supporting the Holy Father’s mission with prayer and recalling that every genuine renewal of the Church is born first from the inner encounter with God. In times marked by haste and noise, contemplative life once again becomes an eloquent sign of hope, unity and listening to the Spirit.
As one of the Augustinian nuns of the Monastery of La Conversión (Sotillo de la Adrada, Ávila) explains, the initiative came from the Contemplare Foundation, and contemplative monasteries from all over Spain have taken part.
The community of Sotillo de la Adrada, in Ávila, has handmade 1,000 decade rosaries for the young people who will take part in this historic gathering. Each one bears the Augustinian cross as a sign of unity, communion and shared faith.
