Preparations, resources and programme of events for Pope Leo XIV’s visit

Pope Leo XIV’s apostolic visit to Spain has become a wonderful opportunity for the different religious orders and congregations that share Augustinian spirituality to live this ecclesial event, so important for the sons and daughters of Saint Augustine, as one big family.

For some time now, a joint team with representatives of the whole Augustinian Family has been working on proposals and materials to help everyone live this visit with intensity and meaning.

Materials

On the one hand, guides with pastoral and liturgical resources by age group have been prepared to get ready spiritually for this moment. Proposals for activities in Madrid during the days the Pope is in Spain have also been prepared, with music resources and vocational accompaniment.

Welcome

To welcome him from the schools, an event is planned for Thursday, June 4 at 12:00 noon in the playgrounds of the schools run by Augustinian friars, Augustinian sisters and Augustinian Recollects in different parts of Spain.

In addition, ahead of the official programme of the Pope’s visit, two moments have been planned to which everyone (schools, parishes, communities, young and old)
is invited:
– Friday, June 5, at 8:00 p.m.: prayer vigil at the Church of the Comendadoras de Santiago in Madrid.
– Saturday, June 6, at 12:30 p.m.: Mass in the chapel of San Agustín School in Madrid.

After Mass, participants will have lunch together at the school, the kit with the items identifying the pilgrims as the Augustinian Family will be handed out, and they will go together to the Plaza de Lima, where the vigil with Pope Leo XIV will take place.
